Radio Bikrampur won MINA MEDIA AWARD 2014 by UNICEF

Radio Bikrampur 99.2 FM, a creative initiative of EC Bangladesh, got two awards from Mina Media Award 2014 ceremony organized and acknowledged by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on 16 September 2014 at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka Bangladesh.

Apart from Radio Bikrampur, Rupiaya Jahan Juthi, a presenter and child radio journalist, submitted a report titled “Shishuder Mukhe Oshalin Gan-Children’s participation in slang song” and won 2nd position under the category of bellow 18 aged Radio Journal Report and Ahammed Eusuf, a senior presenter and radio journalist won 3rd position by submitting a report titled “Horijon Shishu Aie-life of Harijan (Dalits) Community children” under the category of over 18 Radio Journal Report. It is mentionable here that these two types of reports have been broadcasted in Radio Bikrampur back in 2013.

For the contribution in broadcasting the child rights issue based news in our local mass media, Radio Bikrampur received BDT 45000/- taka (516.59 US Dollar) and two crest as well as certificates from Mr. Hasanul Haque Inu, MP, Honorable Minster, Ministry of Information, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Pascal Villeneuve, the Chief of UNICEF Bangladesh and Goodwill Ambassador & Film Actress Arifa Zaman Moushumi.

Meena, is an animated cartoon character who symbolizes a change agent and advocates the cause of children across South Asia. The 10th award ceremony brought children’s voices to the forefront through a colorful cultural event. An eight member expert panel of judges comprising of creative writers, veteran media professionals and academics assessed each entry through a strict marking process where the names of the participants were replaced by a specific code number.

The reality of today is that the bondage between the community people and Radio Bikrampur is getting strengthened day-by-day. Radio Bikrampur has now become their part of life. Radio Bikrampur 99.2 FM becomes the instrument for the livelihood battle of the rural people of Munshiganj district
